The adult pictures are pretty good too!
What will you create when you feel great?
POSITIVE RULES!
Practical ways to regain a positive and uplifting view of your world and boost your self esteem when you're feeling down, blue, or just plain grumpy!
Fun and enlightening workshops that can be held in the classroom, outdoors, your home - practically anywhere - for all ages (for real feedback from kids - and parents of kids - who participated and others aware of Positive Rules! for Positive Kids, please see the "Feedback" page).
For Kids!
Girls 4-8 Girls 9-12
Boys 4-8 Boys 9-12
Incorporate some discussions about our feelings - both negative and positive - adapt them into art form, throw in a bit of fun and positive kid friendly visualisation designed especially for your child, and your child has a wonderful - and wonder-filled - experience!
Sessions that include craft making and wishing stones to take home, will ensure your child remembers the moments he/she has created! Your child leaves Positive Rules! inspired, happy and uplifted - a very happy little human indeed!
In the last term of 2009, soon after Positive Rules was instigated, parents were given the choice of allowing their children from Grade 1 of a local Melbourne school to participate in a one-off 2 hr session of Positive Rules! Over half of the grade attended to amazing feedback (see "feedback" page), word got round, and more children attended, either for their first time, or coming back to do the workshop again!
In 2010 Positive Rules developed in two ways: I held single three hour workshops for those children who had little time to spare and wanted to cover the workshop in one day, and I also held three-by- one hour workshops which covered the workshop over three consecutive days at lunch times in schools, or after school.
Positive Rules is running workshops this year at a local school, servicing their Preps to Grade 3s in the area of self esteem, positive thinking and goal orientation, in order to achieve more positive emotions and outcomes in these areas.
Groups of between six to eight children at a time (either in the school or privately - I run mobile workshops when I can) are given these workshops with the benefit of being able to take with them not only what they have learned and a new sense of self, but also their art work and craft work, a "wishing/goal" stone, and/or a "magic" stone, and an affirmation card that instils a sense of optimism and pride in the child and is a specific message only for the individual (examples can be sent with our info pack).
As a true believer in the need for our next generation to receive lessons and help in ways to step back from negativity and bullying, for the mere learning to understand and accept others cultures, feelings and ideas, and the incredibly uplifting, and positive message the child leaves with - and remembers - I ask nothing more than a simple donation to your favourite charity (in the case of schools I do ask for a gold coin donation from each child so that I can send this money on to a much needed mobile library elsewhere in the country).
Have you ever seen the look on a child's face when it compares a sad drawing to a happy one, and realises that in the spate of only 15 minutes or so, they alone have created that change?! Reward in itself.
Reward for you too - it is well worth interposing a workshop into your school morning, after hours, or at your home on a weekend.
In 2011, I took a bit of a break (I am a single mum and a personal carer as well as working four days a week), but went back later in the year to perform a one-off workshop for the Seabrook Primary Grade 3 Curriculum, "Conflict and Peace". The kids loved the workshop and I have been asked to attend again to hold the workshop for the same curriculum this year.
And - for Positive Teens!
I also hold classes for teens and young adults, and have specially designed meditations for these groups.
All of us go through incredibly difficult times at some point in our lives, and we all need a positive boost now and then. Please see the contacts page (or "About") if you as a teenager or parent of a teen in need, would like further information (also see "About").
Cyber Bullying and Teen Problems:
Positive Rules! caters for teens, indeed children of any age, that are going through their hardest years and most difficult times.
It can help you, the teenager or young adult, handle the changes in your life, the associations in your social arena and the difficulties you face dealing with friends, family, colleagues and goals in general.
Cyber bullying, being as big and as dangerous as it is, does not have to be seen as such if you choose a different tack and learn to step back from the negatitivies others may want to instil upon you.
It does not have to be that way.
You are capable of dealing with these situations with a higher and far more positive attitude. You are better than that. You just have to know this and learn how to instil this belief within yourself - and your self.
Siblings of Kids with Disabilities
Yes, this workshop is for you too. We all know how hard it is when a sibling has disabilities that the parents need to focus upon - you feel left out, disinclined to participate, or simply helpless.
Learn to know that you are not, and never have been, forgotten by your loved ones, you are their delight and you are a delight in yourself - and to yourself as well!
Community
Positive Rules has sponsored Autism Victoria and has also made donations to Animal Aid Victoria and Lort Smith Animal Hospital.
As this is a part-time cause that I choose to partake in, I simply ask for a small donation to a charity of your choice as payment in lieu; if we as the mature community and carers of our next generation, can stop one more child coming home in tears, or jumping off a bridge, or suffering from indecision and heartache, then let's do so.
Can't get to a workshop?
Positive Rules! is a mobile workshop and travels all over Melbourne.
Alternatively I can personalise workshops to suit yourself, children and family should you wish to run your own sessions in your own home without other people around, or simply because you need your own time and space. I am happy to send you a personalised program along with the items you need for your workshop: all you will require are coloured pens/paints/crayons, and blank A4 paper.
Write to us at info@positiverules.com.au and we'll send you a Positive Rules! information pack.
